Global Forum for Environment and Health
The Global Forum for Environment and Health is a distinguished lecture series designed to initiate discussions on the topic of worldwide health. The Global Forum is designed specifically for leaders in health care, health professionals, those preparing for careers in health, scientists in environmental health, and policy makers.
The Global Forum for Health and the Environment is linking with other organizations; for example, 100 World Bank GDLN sites throughout the world can receive and participate in the Global Forum. Lectures are also made available for satellite broadcast and streaming internet video.
Potential partnerships include the World Bank Global Distance Learning Network, Medical Missions for Children, and others who bring strategic contributions to establish lecture programs. Future themes include, "Cancer Prevention and the Environment," "Water Quality and Vector-Borne Diseases," "Environmental Disasters and Epidemics," and "Poverty and Emerging Health Issues." In addition, selected medical schools are involved in a Global Seminar for Health and the Environment which utilizes the distinguished lectures in the Global Forum to create an innovative approach to global medical education.
